Description |
In this paper, Helmholtz-Kirchhoff (H-K) roughness model is employed to characterize seafloor sediment and roughness parameters from the eastern sector of the Southern Oceans The multibeam- Hydroswcep system's angular-backscatter data, which is operable at 15.5 kHz, is used in this study Estimated power law parameters using H-K and composite roughness models are compared from the same areas. Interestingly, multibeam backscatter study result establishes a relationship between the power law parameters with the biogenous sediment type (calcareous/ siliceous) The combined application of the two models is found to be complementing each other for bottom roughness estimation
