Surge (non-linear) uptake of ammonium, measured by incorporation of 15N, was investigated in three species of macroalgae (Ulva lactuca Linnaeus (Chlorophyta), Soliera robusta (Greville) Kylin (Rhodophyta) and Dictyota dichotoma (Hudson) Lamouroux (Phaeophyta)) from Kavaratti atoll (Lakshadweep, India).
