The phytoplankton in the ocean plays an important role not only because it produces food that sustains the marine life, but also it is capable of regulating CO2 and there by influencing the climate of the earth system. It is in this context that, the present thesis aims at studying the chlorophyll pigmentation concentration in the northern Arabian Sea using remote sensing and GIS.
