Description |
NIO sea level gauge is a pressure-based gauge that operates on 12 volts battery. The pressure-sensing element used in this gauge is a piezo-resistive programmable semiconductor transducer that provides pressure samples in RS-485 format. The transducer in this gauge is powered continuously and is programmed to provide 10-second averaged absolute pressure samples (i.e., water pressure + atmospheric air pressure) in mbar. The logger reads such 10-second averaged absolute pressure samples every 10 seconds, and at the end of every 15 minutes, the logger averages such 90 samples and then records the 15-minutes averaged time-tagged pressure data in its non-volatile flash memory bank. Initializing the gauge and offloading the recorded data are accomplished with the use of a laptop computer.
