Description After withdrawal of the Indian Summer Monsoon and until onset of the next monsoon, i.e. roughly during November-May, winds in the coastal region of India are dominated by sea breeze. Impact of daily cycle of the breeze on the sea near the coast can be seen in a year-long (May 1996- May 1997) record collected with a Datawell directional waverider buoy in 23 m deep water off Goa, west coast of India. Twenty-minute averaged spectra, collected once every three hours, during the first two weeks of April 1997 (when sea breeze was well developed on most days) show that the spectra of the sea breeze related sea peaked at 0.22 + - 0.05 Hz and had frequencies greater than approximately 0.15 Hz. The TMA spectrum (Bouws et al., 1985), formulated as extension of JONSWAP spectrum (Hasselmann et al. 1973) in wind-generated sea in finite water depth, matched the observed spectra very well when the sea-breeze was active. The diurnal cycle of sea breeze related sea off the coast of Goa using the observed and computed spectra and observed winds at the coast is constructed
