Description |
The wave measurements carried out along the east and west coasts off India at 13 locations using the directional waverider buoys are referred in this paper. The total number of buoy days are 4501 and out of which the data collected are 4218 days which gives a success rate of 93.7%. At 4 locations 100% data had been collected. In 13 locations considered, 26 deployments and 5 adrift were encountered during the data collection period. The problems associated with wave measurements and their remedies are discussed. This paper highlights deployments/ retrieval techniques, safe guarding the buoy moored location and various operational problems during the data collection programme. Conclusions pertaining to operation, maintenance etc., have been included.
