Description The development of an intertidal mangrove nursery and afforestation technique for regeneration and restoration of mangroves of Goa is described. Site selection, source of plant material, nursery plantation, season of transplantation, technique of transplantation, financial estimations, etc. were considered as important factors for nursery establishment. The plan was implemented with the help of Forest Department of Goa at Chorao Island in the Mandovi Estuary, Goa, India. Afforestation was with 85-90% success rate. Some problems like mortality, algal growth, effect of siltation, problem of erosion, cattle grazing, fishing activities, cyclones, etc., faced during the programme implementation are described
