Description The exploited marine living resources, through capture fisheries, have their own limitations of resource potential, marine pollution and ever increasing operational cost. A plausible way to fulfil the increasing demand of seafood is through the generation of marine living resources through culture fisheries or mariculture or seafarming. Marine tropical ecosystems, with uniformly high temperature regime, support fast growth, prolonged breeding period and faster turn-over rates. Accordingly, in the last two decades or so, greater emphasis is being laid on research and development activity relevant to culture fisheries, and a number of appropriate techniques for mass culture of tropical marine organisms have been evolved and few of them have been commercialized. An approach to overcome the identified constraints and plan for feasibility of culture fisheries, is presented and discussed here
