Description |
Metal content was determined in three groups of molluscs - an oyster Saccostrea cucullata, snail Cerithium rubus and clam Tellina angulata from three sites along the Bombay Coast. Seasonal difference in copper content was significant in S. cucullata and C. rubus. Sexwise, iron content was high in male and manganese in female oysters. In T. angulata male specimens showed maximum zinc content. Stationwise, difference in copper and iron was significant in C. rubus. In general, copper and zinc accumulation was high in S. cucullata, manganese in C. rubus and iron in T. angulata. Similarly, copper and zinc in S. cucullata and copper in C. rubus were found occasionally higher than accepted health standards
