Description From the early historical period onwards selection of timber became important for construction boats. The analysis of timber collected from shipwreck and wooden stock of iron anchor off Goa has been proven that Indian teak was not only used for ship construction but also for anchors. During exploration of shipwreck off Minicoy doorframe hinge, latch, porthole, flanges, J hook were found and all these artefacts are made of brass. Moreover timber remains noticed on doorframe hinge and latch. In order to understand the species of timber and mineralogy of brass, anatomical analysis of timber and EPMA analysis of brass carried out. This paper details the state of the shipwrecks, mineralogy of brass and anatomical analysis of timber collected from Minicoy shipwreck.
