Description 114-117
An extracellular lipase producing bacterium, identified as Bacillus coagulans based on the morphological and biochemical characters, was isolated from the soil. The maximum growth and lipase production was obtained after 72 h of bacterial culture. While the optimum pH and temperature for the production of lipases was 7 and 30ºC, respectively. Peptone and olive oil were found to be the best nitrogen and carbon sources, respectively. Na⁺ ions stimulated lipase production than K⁺ and Mg⁺⁺.
