Description 225-230
The nature of hydrocarbons in flat fish Psettodes erumei and mussel Modiolus striatulus were studied to assess the extent of hydrocarbon pollution in the marine environment. Concentration of group composition (aliphatic, aromatic and polar compounds) extracts in flat fish ranged from 427 ppm (w/w) to 435 ppm (w/w) for aliphatic, from 559 ppm (w/w) to 569 ppm (w/w) for aromatic and from 32992 ppm (w/w) to 33921 ppm (w/w) for polar compound. Whereas, the concentration in mussel ranged from 1415 ppm (w/w) to 1413 ppm (w/w) for aliphatic, from 479 ppm (w/w) to 496 ppm (w/w) for aromatic and from 43466 ppm (w/w) to 44066 ppm (w/w) for polar compound. Concentration of the total hydrocarbons in different extracts of flat fish and mussel were found in order of mussel > flat fish.
