Marine bacterial strains of Cytophaga diffluens, C. hutcinsonii, Pseudomonas sp. (fluorescent) and Vibrio fluvialis I were examined for cellulase production using four media, Kadota, Park' s, Mandels & Sternberg and Zobell 2216E. Although there were differences in the quantities produced, all test isolates prod uced exoglucanase, endoglucanase and β-glucosidase and showed complete cellulase activity. The highest enzyme production (0.12 IU) was seen in Park's medium, and least (0.03 IU) in Mandels and Sternberg medium. |
