Description 647-652
Possible
roles of algae (i.e. “green water”) in facilitating Macrobrachium rosenbergii larviculture have been
investigated in the present study. Three types of algae were mixted with shrimp larval feed. Algal members
were belonging to the family like Cyanophyceae, Chlorophyceae and Charophyceae
respectively. Algal mixture was applied with control feed, showed better result
in shrimp larval development. It took only 15 days to attain post larval stage,
where as in conventional feeding practice it was 27 days. Algal mixture as
total feed showed more or less similar result (26 days) in comparison to
conventional feed. As in this formulation total animal protein was replaced, it
will be effective in controlling larval diseases.
