Description 1566-1570
To locate fresh water aquifers multi electrode electrical resistivity scanning was carried out at
Kalaignanapuram, Subramaniapuram, Sippikulam and Mettur villages using
SSR-MP-AT-ME model multi electrode resistivity meter. In Subramaniapuram, the
resistivity varied from 47 to 590 ohm m. From the resistivity difference, it is
decided that the location must be a possible zone of the fresh water aquifer..
Geochemical parameters showed very high to moderate concentration in the three
locations which similitude to saline water. In Subramaniapuram, chemical
parameters concentration is within the desirable limit for drinking of WHO and
hence the location is identified as a fresh water aquifer zone. Thus, very low
resistivity and higher value of chemical parameters are due to presence of
saline water.
