Description 1849-1856
Based on in situ samples collected in an intertidal zone of Jiangsu
province in China,
this approach aims to map spatial distribution of sediment type via Landsat TM
remote sensing data. Results demonstrated that TM4 possessed a
linear relationship with the percentage of sediment components (sand, silt and
clay). Further, we established models to predict the percentage of each
sediment component and map distributions in TM image. Based on retrieved
percentage and integrated with a well-known Shepard classification method,
sediment types were determinated. It is showed that the remote sensing
retrieval method could be well utilized for dynamic monitoring and analyzing of
the depositional environment changes in muddy intertidal flat region.
