One hundred and ninety two species of
free-living marine nematodes were collected during Cruise No. 260 of “FORV Sagar Sampada” from the southeast
continental shelf of India.
Comesomatidae is the third most abundant family (six genera and sixteen
species) along the southeast continental shelf of India. Among these, nine species
were identified under the genus of Sabatieria.
Six of these species Sabatieria celtica,
Sabatieria longisetosa, Sabatieria ornata, Sabatieria praedatrix, Sabatieria
pulchra
and Sabatieria punctata
which happen to be first record from Indian waters are described.
