Mangroves constitute 929 sq. km of the total area of the Andaman Archipelago. Occurrence of the marine wood-borer, Spathoteredo obtusa (Sivickis) (Bivalvia:Teredinidae) is reported for the first time in the mangrove vegetation of Andaman Islands. Samples have been collected from South Andaman from mangrove species of Rhizophora mucronata, and R. apiculata. Important taxonomic features of this newly reported boring mollusc is described and illustrated. These findings offer additional information to the marine wood borers of Mangroves in Andaman Islands, India.
