Age and growth of the carangid Alepes para (Cuvier) from Mangalore coast were studied. While the fish grows to 83-84mm during first year, it attains 131 and 143 mm as the second and third year growth von Bertalanffy growth equation derived for A. para was Lt = 171.1741 [1-e(-0.1832(t+0.1590))]. The fishery of A. para is mainly supported by the second year class of fish. |
