The specific activities of acid and alkaline phosphatases, aspartate and alanine amino transferases and ATPase were found altered in various degrees in gills, hepatopancreas and adductor muscles of the intertidal clam Gafrarium divaricatum after exposure to 10 and 25 mu g/l of copper for a month. The changes in enzyme activities in experimental clams are attributed to the presence of copper in the surrounding medium of the clams. |
