Qualitative and quantitative distribution of benthos revealed significant variations in time and space. Polychaetes constituted 66 to 100% of the total fauna followed by Echiurids, Echinoderms, Molluscs and Crustaceans. The numerical abundance of macrobenthos varied from 900 to 3700.m-2. In general, faunal composition decreased with depth, and clayey silt substrata supported dense population. |
