Diurnal periodicity of carpospore shedding of G.edulis was studied March - May 1989. Occurance of a diurnal rhythm with a peak shedding time varying from 1900 to 0100 hrs was recorded. The spore shedding capacity varied between 1696 and 6715. cystocarp-1 d -1 and 72928 and 590920.g-1 plant.d-1. The study suggests and ideal time from 1900 - 0100 hrs for bulk collection of carpospores for mass cultivation. |
