Population of M. casta from Mandovi estuary, Goa, India was represented by 3y classes and the 1y class dominated the population. Length frequency distribution indicated that M. casta breeds twice in a year and the progression of the mode showed an average growth of 3 mm per month. The average production of M. casta in the study area was 31.38 g dry wt. m -2.y -1 and the annual P/B ratio was 3.4. Temporal trends of population density, biomass and growth increments were compared with some physico-chemical parameters. |
