Concentrations of 239+240 Pu in various sample matrices from the Tarapur (Maharashtra, India) coastal environment have been determined for 10 y (1978 to 1987). 239+240 Pu concentration factors (CF) in sediments, seaweed, and marine animals have been evaluated from annual average concentrations. Sediment shows CF of the order of 103. The levels of Pu in the environmental matrices are so low that they do not present any radiation hazard to the general public. |
