Calcium and magnesium concentrations in surface waters showed significant seasonal, as well as spatial variations. Levels of these 2 elements increased almost constantly from the head of the estuary towards its sea end with chlorinity. Strong positive correlation was observed between chlorinity and calcium (P < 0.01) and chlorinity and magnesium (P < 0.01) indicating their conservative behaviour. |
