Description |

Sediment texture in the Cochin harbour shows fine sediment in the inner channels and coarse fraction in the approach channel. In the inner channels the sediment transport is mostly by suspension, while it is due to graded suspension and saltation in the approach channel. The sediment size indicates that maximum deposition occurs during premonsoon (February-May). The littoral transport plays a major role in the sedimentation in the Cochin harbour. |
