Concentrations of Mn, Cu, Ni and Co in zooplankton were more in gelatinous organisms, copepods and decapods than in mysids. High concentrations of Mn and Cu were in zooplankton from southern lighter channel area which received considerable amount of domestic sewage. Cd concentration was invariably constant in zooplankton collected from all stations. Bioassay tests were carried out for evaluating the acute toxicity of Mn and Ni on selected groups of zooplankton. Among the different organisms tested copepods, chaetognaths, mysids, medusae and lucifers were relatively more sensitive than tunicates, siphonophores and ctenophores. |
