Length-frequency distribution of the fish in the commercial catches revealed that S. insidiator (Bloch) grows to a total length (TL) of 78 mm at the end of 12 months and 108 mm at the end of 20 months of its life. Probability plot technique indicated 73 mm and 97 mm growth in fish at the end of 1st and 2nd y respectively. Von Bertalanffy growth equation fitted indicated 120 mm as the asymptotic length (L-alpha) which is almost close to the maximum size of the fish actually recorded. |
