Seasonal variations of dissolved O2 and total CO2 were studied in the mixing zone of the Hooghly estuary during 1989. Water showed undersaturation with respect to dissolved O2 during the study period (Jan.-Dec. 1989) and saturation anomaly varied between -4.89 and -12.9% during monsoon. Increasing trend of saturation of dissolved oxygen was observed towards the mouth of the estuary, and practically coastal water became saturated with respect to oxygen during postmonsoon and premonsoon. Seasonal variations also occurred in total CO2 which varied between 1.65 and 3.11 m mol.l-1. |
