Salt dependent variation in toxicity of the same metal in P. indica was analysed. Of the various salt forms tested, sulphates of cadmium and zinc and acetate of mercury were most toxic. These variations in toxicity could be due to the differences in chemical speciation which in turn affect the bioavailability and accumulation. Further this may also be due to the toxicity produced by the anions and the differences in anion speciation. |
