The length at first maturity in P. indicus females is estimated at 125 mm. This species spawns throughout the year with 2-3 peaks in a year, the peaks being different during different years. Females are predominant in different months and also in larger length groups; they attain a greater maximum length (av. 159.8 mm). It is suggested that one of the reasons for the predominance of females in the larger length groups may be due to greater natural mortality in males. |
