Total lipid content was estimated in 21 genera comprising 31 species of green, brown and red seaweeds of Tamil Nadu and Gujarat coasts. It varied from 19 to 85, 17 to 65 and 20 to 71 mg.g-1 respectively in green brown and red seaweeds on dry weight basis. Codium dwarkense, Padina gymnospora and Laurencia cruciata showed high total lipid content (respectively 85, 65 and 71 mg.g-1). |
