Community structure and assemblage of economically important benthic penaeid non-penaeid juvenile prawns form different biotopes, viz estuarine (st 1), backwaters (st 2) and mangroves (st 3) were studied (1977-1979). St 1 showed maximum diversity index (2.52 bits of individuals per unit) coinciding with the occurrence of maximum number of species. The species richness values varied between 0.46 and 1 while values of evenness or equitability ranged between 0.21 and 0.97. The low diversity values occurred during northeast monsoon season. |
