Twenty-nine strains of halophilic V. parahaemolyticus were isolated from seawater, brackish water, fin fishes and shell fishes from these environments. Characteristics of these strains were studied and compared with the type strain of V. parahaemolyticus (NCMB - 1902). The characteristics of the isolates were similar to those of the type strain except few. All the isolated strains were Kanagawa negative and this apathogenic. |
