Mode of sediments transport in terms of bed-load or suspended-load is examined. Suspended-load in the surf zone of Puri and Madras beaches constitutes about 10-11% of the total drift while the bed-load accounts for the remaining. These calculations are based on the fact that the suspended grains move with a velocity equal to that of the longshore current. |
