Fluoride content has been estimated in 28 marine algal species and seawater. Red algae comparatively have more fluoride than brown and green algae. Fluoride content in seawater is 1.29-1.33 mg.l-1. Of the green algae, collected from Porbandar Reef, Gujarat, India, Caulerpa scalpelliformis and Ulva lactuca show an increase and Codium dwarkense a decrease in the fluoride content with increasing age of the plant. |
