Description 71-73
Comparison of grain size parameters at different regions of the same environment (study area) shows that the sediments from upper backshore, lower backshore and foreshore have their mean grain size in the medium sand class and mean size decreases from upper backshore to foreshore. Upper backshore sediments are negatively skewed whereas lower backshore and foreshore sediments are positively skewed. Negative skewness and larger grain size of sediments of backshore region suggest that this zone is formed under the influence of erosional regime, while positive skewness and smaller grain size of sediments of the other 2 zones suggest their formation under a depositional regime.
