An attempt has been made to obtain mean monthly total surface drift currents from mean monthly wind and swell data reported routinely by navy and merchant ships. Total surface drift currents comprise 2 components, viz. mass transport due to surface waves and wind induced surface drift currents which are estimated separately and added vectorially. |
