Movement of beach sand was studied using tracer (rhodomine B) technique. Rates of depletion of tracer after 60 and 180 min were 1.6 and 0.85% respectively. Grain velocity was 1.82 m.min-1. A general westward movement of sediment was observed. Considerable sediment transport in the offshore direction and the trapping of these sediments in the offshore bar were indicated. |
