Marked variations of grain size parameter in accreted and eroded beaches are observed. Accreted sands are coarser, poorly sorted and have high positive skewness value; whereas the eroded sands are finer, well sorted and have negatively skewed distributions. Differentiation has been achieved on the basis of average weight percentages of grain size fractions, shape of grain size frequency distribution curves and statistical grain size parameters. |
