Description 133-135
Bathymetry, distribution of suspended matter and textural variations of the sediments are discussed in the light of mud bank formation. Soupy form of nearshore sediment build up contains abundant clay fraction (up to 66.14U+0025). High suspended matter concentration is observed in seawater at surface as well as at 1 m above the bottom (439.3 mg.l-1). Local sediment dispersal system is characterised by transport from all directions towards the central portion. This is indicated by silt/clay ratio, suggesting transportation of mud from offshore which might have been caused by converging currents.
