Description 181-182
There are 2 nitrite maxima in the Northern Arabian Sea, one at the thermocline depth and the other at depths between 300 and 500 m. The 2nd maximum is more prominent in the northeastern part of the Arabian Sea. The 1st maximum is associated with varying amount of dissolved oxygen whereas the 2nd is associated with very low amount of dissolved oxygen ( < 1 ml.l-1). Below the 2nd maximum the nitrite is absent.
