Oxygen consumption and metabolic rate of P. viridis in relation to its body size was studied at a constant temperature of 25ᵒC. Oxygen consumption showed an exponential relationship with size. A positive linear correlation was obtained with a b value of 0.7356 for the oxygen consumption and a negative linear correlation with a (b-1) value of -0.2644 was observed for the weight specific oxygen consumption or metabolic rate. The b value of P. viridis was compared with that of other bivalves. |
