Swell characteristic off Paradip during May to September 1980, have been studied. The predominant swell height ranges from 1.4 to 1.7 m while the predominant period is 8 seconds. Swells observed during monsoon show 2 patterns (i) that exists during June to August and (ii) that is observed in May and September. During June to August the swells are steeper as compared to those present in May and September. This variability is due to the fact that during June to August the swells are those generated near the area of observation while the swells during early May and late September are those generated by distant storms. |
