Mean dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons, measured using UV-spectrophotometry, at 0 and 10m were 51 ± 1 and 55 ± 1.2 µg/litre respectively; range of variation being between 28 and 83 µg/litre. Very little difference was observed in concentration values between the eastern and the western sides of the island and also in the top 10m of the water column. |
