Preferences of particular groups of the psammic fauna to monazite sands are indicated. The samples of graded sand are populated by fauna which are considerably much poorer both in number and in species than that occurring either in the ungraded sand or in the fresh beach sand. A general reduction in the total number of animals in relation to a decrease in the grain size is also noted. |
