Immediate response of coelomic fluid free amino acid (FAA) concentration to salinity stress was determined after 24 hr exposure to experimental salinities (5 to 34%). FAA concentration increased with increasing salinities (16 and 28.41µg respectively at 5 and 34%). FAA concentration remained almost stable after 48 and 72 hr exposure to these salinities. The results suggest that the increase in FAA concentration at high salinities may act as a compensatory mechanism during hyporegulatory phase. |
