Average hydrocarbon concentrations in water, plankton and sediment samples collected from the central west coast of India between 14 °s 40'N and 15 °s 50'N were 30.9 µg/litre, 46.9 µg/g dry wt and 7.1 µg/g dry wt respectively. The data suggest that marine plankton are useful indicators of oil pollution in this region. |
