Statistical relationships between wave height characteristics are computed for 1232 subsurface wave records, covering different seasons. Relationships between maximum height to highest 10%, maximum height to significant height and significant height to mean height are linear and are given by 1.28, 1.58 and 1.47 respectively. These are comparable to the theoretical relationships of Longuet-Higgins within ±10%, but are lower than similar relationships computed for US Coast by 7 to 21%. Frequency distribution of wave heights for each month is found to follow Rayleigh distribution law. In September only 15% of waves are having steepness (significant wave height/wavelength) more than 1:100 compared to 74% in July. |
