Considerable amount of siltation has been observed off 1800 m from the harbour mouth, with decreasing tendency beyond 6000 m. Tidal streams and longshore currents appear to be prominent agencies for siltation in the outer channel, Statistical analysis of data shows that there is no significant difference in the annual variation of the silt amount near the entrance channel. No significant difference has been observed in the siltation of the northern and southern regions of the channel. |
